Re: Advice needed Freelining, thats somthing i haven't done for a long time. I usally use a feeder rod with a 1 to 1 and 1/2 oz tip with 4lb line. I used to use bread or meat size 10 hook and useing the weight of the bait as the casting weight. then i would settle down in a comfortable posistion and with one hand hold the rod and the other hold the line i would wait for the bite. i would feed little and often as in all fishing as well. :-) __________________ Born to fish made to work

Dave freelining a big lobworm can work really well as can freelined flake. Flake just get a slice pull out a chunk & wrap it round your line above your hook then wrap it over on itself again then pull the flake down over your hook, dunk in the water & cast. If you do find you need a bit of extra weight I use a link ledger i.e a swivel attached to about 2-3inches of braid or line then add SSG's onto the line till the bait just holds station in the current. Thread the link ledger on your line 1st then use a stop to hold the link ledger in place. Hope that helps? Rob. __________________ So many types of fishing ... so little free time...

Re: Advice needed I have found when free lining, that not using a quiver tip is better, if you have an avon tip then go for it. I think the softness of the quiver absorbs some of the finer aspects of the bite, fine if bites are bold, but some are gentle, esp from roach and sometimes perch.
