Re: Can anyone help?

The only thing that would make me doubt whether there were any good fish in it would be that you say it wasn't flowing and was pretty stagnant.
It sounds like it could be a drainage ditch and if there were any fish in it it would just be sticklebacks and if you were lucky a few bootlace eels.
However if it had some kind of flow or joined a river then I would think it could be worth a look.

Small healthy flowing streams of that size can hold some surprising fish such as Chub, Dace, Gudgeon as well as the usual minnows etc. but I would expect it to have some flow, and stagnant water is a definate no no.

You would be better off looking for a side stream on the Canal that you fish.

Re: Can anyone help?

Ur best bet is to ask in the local tackle shop they normaly know who owns what and how it fishes

If there are trout in the wier pool then its defantly owned by someone.

HOW IS THIS SO? maybe its different down south but i have a small burn that runs into the river almond and a couple of weir pools not far from me, full of loveley brownies and no one owns it, same with most hill lochs up here, theye are full of brownies, pike, perch, roach.....and you just fish them for free as no one holds the rights to a lot of them
