Sad day for sharks. was reading the angling times this week and on the front cover shows a man whos just caught a massive shark of the irish coast i think it was a record 1050lb like i say massive, now it goes on to say that a shark of this species growing to this size is quite rare and guess what they KILLED it ,WHY becuase it was to big to weigh on the boat. now a rare fish in my eyes should have been released for another to try and catch and who knows with a bit of luck could have beaten the record again after feeding for a few more months but now its hanging off a forklift truck in some marina all becuase this man wanted to boost his ego.

Re: Sad day for sharks. I imagine it was caught from a charter boat, perhaps they should be a deposit, which is lost if they 'need' to kill the fish for the sake of the ego?? I remember being on holiday in Ireland when I was about 10 or 11, and we used to catch crabs off a jetty, when the tide was low, you could peer down and see a mass of dead sharks, crawling with crabs. Pure waste. Kill only what you need to eat.

Re: Sad day for sharks. I saw this myself. A total and utter waste. No sense to it at all. wgsten __________________ http://www.irishflyfisher.ie/
