Question Monster fish in the canal...

ive recently been getting some quite decent size fish out of my local canal(which is nice)but nothing could prepare me for what i saw turning on the top whilst doing a recce for a new place to fish ,CARP and was at least a high double if not a twenty now im unsure what to do you see id love to land this fish but do i sit there all day hoping i will catch it(it must be a one off cos ive never seen one in this canal before)or carry on as normal and catch the fish i know are there and how did it get there anyway?

Go for it try some floating bread. Or just set up a 2nd rod with a boilie or someit.

Was stocked years ago by munks my local canal holds loads of nice carp to 20lb also afew in my local river.

I'd think your best bet would be to find a fish holding feature close to where you saw the carp. Overhanging bushes or something similar. Then spend several days pre-baiting with boilies. Then a go for it. You'll probably find that there's more than one there, but carp can be very difficult to locate on canals. Good luck....

Canals can be very under rated for carp as they can hold some very big ones

You could try using a big waggler, put a ball of groundbait round the bottom of it, 1ft hair rig with a boilie, saw this method on Discovery Shed, will be trying it myself. Greenheart is absolutely right, carp do like overhanging features but they can be tempted out with some dog biscuits, if they are there they will investigate...

You will have to re-cast about every minute as the groundbait melts away down over the boilie, re-do the groundbait then re-cast, should be OK though, let me know how you get on...
