| Re: Fishing stories an old man told me this a few months back, ill never forget it... fact or fiction.. u decide! There was a guy lived beside the river and had a run off pool in his yard, he kept a pike in that pool and fed it whole chickens. the pike grew so big that the guy had to get the army out to shoot it. true story apparantly, a few ppl have told me similar stories. __________________ Fishing for a lifetime, not a past-time. |

| Re: Fishing stories You will not believe what i am about to try to explain, It was truly amazing! Can you remeber,on cartoons when you was small, anglers would think they had an amazing catch, It turns out it was a boot. Well, Hold your selves on the edge of your seat, you may want some sellotape you'll be laughing so much. (in your head that is, unless your one of these people who finds it reallyyyy funny! (:) I went fishing at my localish fish lakes/Ponds, (whatever you want to call em), and was there for about 6 hours. Anyway, there was a rather roudy (Noisy) lot of boys, bout my age, and one of them cast his line out, into the middle of the pond, and instantly got a 'Bite'! As you can imagine i was thinking Man, what a massive fish, He Might Go In With It! His line had alot of tension, and i thought it was a carp, How Wrong! So this lad started reeling, and i thought it was a massive fish, because it was producing quite a big 'wave'. Obviously the serious fishers where a bit pee'd off as it was disturbing the fish, But Man! It acctually turned out when he landed it that it was a coat! Must of Been There For ages! God, it was so funny, you must of been there to of seen it! Lmao! I was wondering, has anyone else been in that same kind of situation? If you have send a reply, and a full write up! | Re: Fishing stories i was about 11 or 12 fishing with my dad, cant even remember what we were fishing for, i just remember not catching nowt all day and my dad saying "here, change your bait, try sweetcorn" so........changed to sweetcorn, just as i was about to cast i thought my dad had a fish on so i laid my rod down and went over to see if he had one.... false alarm, just a snag. stood for a moment and suddenly my dad started rolling on the floor laughing, he kept pointing but couldnt speak, i looked round as he was pointing at my rod..... no....i dont see nowt, rod is still where i left it....what??? he finally gathers himself enough to pick my rod up and snap the bail arm back down, hands me my rod and i notice the line was tight...what????? a damn chicken had ate my sweetcorn and ran off, i was about to cast when i laid my rod down so the bail arm was up, the chicken had took about 50 yards of line! ended up "landing" my catch, and like the true sportsman i am and believer of catch and release, i carefully unhooked the chicken and let her go!! that was the only thing i caught that day! talking of weird catches...fly fishing at last light can throw up some surprises, namely bats! seen a few bats and swallows caught at dusk on the fly, mid cast and the line, instead of landing gently on the water suddenly shoots up in the air! |

| Re: Fishing stories when i first started fishing i went up to witherington farm fisheris with me pop and i hadnt caught all day and i droped a float in the water so i went up to get it leaving my rod out, when i was walkign back with my flaot i walked past my pops who struck his rod and thort he was in untill he realised our lines had got tangled! he got pretty mad and said to pak up as we wer going, he then got alot madder when i got to my rod only to have a nice 11pound carp on the end of my line wich made my pb at the time |

He was out night fishing(so he says) and was walking back to his car when a 'courting ' couple in a car thought he was peeping tom and proceeded to try to run him over in the panic. i dont think they expected to be interuppted __________________ johnboyj "keepin the faith , sometimes" |

| Re: Fishing stories at the end of a long and fruitless fishing day a few months ago, having managed to snap a rod, drop my scales off a cliff and blank for 5 hours, i finally got a massive bite that pulled like a train. I was convinced it was a big ray. it took ages to bring it up to the surface when it finally got near the top it turned out to be a scuba diver foul hooked through the thigh. |
