Thumbs up Re: Forum Smoothound meet 2007

I think the general opinion at last years meet was that we should have left it until a bit later in the Year John, as the fish were not showing in any numbers in June. So I'm going to propose July 14th. As for venues, you guys on the south coast are in the best position to decide. We shall have to get together for a mini-meet & have a look at the venues. Important things to decide are:

-suitable Pub
-Can the venue be fished at all states of the tide?
-Location of Pub
-Availability of parking
-Doe's the Pub stock good southern beer?
-Distance to walk
-Doe's the pub do good food?
-Can the venue be fished in all weather conditions?
-Doe's the Pub do after hours lock-ins
-Availability of space for us to all fish.
-Who's buying the Beer?

Don't look at me, i'm supplying the Trophy.......

Re: Forum Smoothound meet 2007

So what your saying Ian is there should be a pub nearby?
Not sure any of them have a pub next to them but if we all bring a few beers i ll bring a bbq and hopefully the weather will be better than last year(shouldnt be hard ) and we ll have a good day/night.

Re: Forum Smoothound meet 2007

If you could see what the Norwegians do to smooth hound and doggies it would break your heart. There are nets all over the place here and anything thats not a cod or lobster gets killed and just chucked in the water in the harbour. I've seen fish up to approx 25lb laying there plus rays and skate of all sizes.
For a country that likes to be known as conservationist they have, in my opinion, a lot to learn.
I think the oil has gone to their heads !
By the way Greenheart stop nicking my Pink Floyd lyrics !

Smile Re: Forum Smoothound meet 2007

I've not been able to get a 2007 tide table for the area yet Codhead. But if Gullyworms advice is correct (& i'm sure it is) I am 99% sure this will be the date. I will set up a poll later today to decide the venue which will be in the Solent / Selsey area.
