Whats the verdict on next week

Hi all

Me and Kev have just been talking about this. With the talk of weed being a problem, the smuts only just showing and possibly the weather, whats everyone's opinions on the smut meet? The reason I'm asking is because a lot of us have very long distances to drive or have ordered a lot of bait which will need paying for. It'll be a waste of money if it's unfishable.

If we all agree it'll be fishable then great, but if there's a lot of doubt then maybe a re-schedule would be better? I'm not trying to prompt anyone to cancel as I'm really looking forward to it, but if there's any doubt it'd be good to hear it now so we can push the date further forward

Cheers
Rob

Smile Re: Whats the verdict on next week

One of the reasons for choosing Selsey is that it should be fishable in most conditions. Because it is a headland, at least one side should be sheltered. Failing that Pagham Harbour should be OK. Going by current reports, Pagham is looking Favourite & has been fishing best, both for Smoothounds & some large Black Bream. But the final decision will be made on the day. All the possible venues are close to the meeting place. As Flying fox is fairly local & familiar with fishing the Area, I shall PM him & as if he can get there early & check out the options on the morning of the meet, to help us decide.

Cheers mate, if there alternative venues then thats great. As i said in my post, I'm really looking forward to it and it would be a shame if the conditions mucked it up

Re: Whats the verdict on next week

i see from your post green heart you are going to pm flying fox on the morning of the meet to check are option to decide what to do this will probably be a big problem to me as i will have left and will be on my way after picking my mate up as a;lso being a bank holiday week end i do not want to be stuck traveling around the m25
if there if any last minute venue change i,m going to need to know the night before please
and by wednesday if cause of weed and weather its off as i can cancel bait but i hope it all goes off as i,m really up for it

Thumbs up Re: Whats the verdict on next week

Meeting place & times will still be the same Kev. Selsey Bill pub at 12 noon.
What may change is the beach we fish. However all are local to Selsey. It will just be a case of deciding which looks best on the day.

Re: Whats the verdict on next week

I think as greeny has already mentioned theres always other marks,if selsey west is weeded up then east beach will be weedy ,pagham wont be as bad but you ll still get it,anyway it may not be that bad.
I m planning to fish selsey on thursday night so i will let you know what its like.
If all the west sussex marks are weedy then theres always marks further west around pompey if you dont mind a 30 min drive.

Lets hope the weed doesnt show and the weather improves,we may be worrying about nothing

Thats the good thing about being a pessimist Gully. If you always expect the worst, things can only get better....

That's what I tried telling Kev, but I ended up being labelled Doctor Doom

Hope the trip goes well for you all as I can't wait for the reports
