Smile Forum Smoothound (Smut) meet. Who's interested

Thinking about organising a summer Forum Smoothound (Smut) meet , with a view to making this an annual thing if enough people are interested. It would be run as a friendly competition for Forum members & would also be a chance to meet other members & put faces to names. Primarily it would also be a chance for more experienced fishermen to give help & advice to other members (such as myself ), who have never caught this species from the shore, but who are keen to give it a go. If there is enough interest I would be prepared to provide a small trophy for the winner.
Hopefully by organising this now, it will give members plenty of time to arrange time off etc for the chosen date.

Things that need to be decided are:

Venue - As the majority of forum sea anglers are from the south I would suggest a south cost mark.

Date- Which is the most productive month for Smuts & which tides for the chosen venue?

Day or night meet - which is best & is a night meet practical?

Transport such issues as car sharing & helping younger members who may not have their own transport.

Bait supply - could anyone who lives near the coast help others to get bait such as peeler crab or hermit crab?

Suggested venues & dates would be voted on by members.

Over to you guys...........

Re: Forum Smoothound (Smut) meet. Who's interested

I'd be up for it, PlanktonBoy, know his smuts so I'd give him a PM, I'd be happy to be taxi from Andover, picking up a couple on the way - wherever it ends up being.

Re: Forum Smoothound (Smut) meet. Who's interested

stick my name on this one too. Caught them from the boat but never from the shore, should be interesting...totally different line angles!!

Cheers Jules
