Fresh crab shouldnt be a problem ,but if you do decide to freeze em down down ,make sure you peel and remove the lungs ,and wrap them individulally in cling film before you freeze ,then when you go fishing keep the frozen crab "packets" in a small thermos flask ,so you can defrost them as you go and there in tip top condition as you use them.
