Re: smutt meet 2009

sorry guys and gals that really havnt had time to sort out pub /venue parking info
there is definately a huge pub near the big roundabout on the west end of beach called the hook and parrot, have no idea on food but the kebab shops nearly opposite and the chippy just up the road,

as said before due to work I personnally cannot make it till 6pm
so if people want to meet earlier than fine, that pub could be a good choice

parking along the front is 2 hrs at a time free untill 6 when is free all night
or if travelling in pairs there is a big carpark near the tramway that after dropping 1 off other could park car

so for the comp

my thought was to meet as a group by the ice cream kiosk on the front centre of promenade/beach at 6pm ( although this dosent mean cant have been fishing earlier just wont count for comp)and then fish the comp for the trophy 7pm through till midnight ,or 1 or 2.am maybe
useing the rules ian did for the other events

so therefore

Smutt Trophy 2009 Rules.

1. This is to be a catch & release competition. Only fish above the legal size limit may kept if for the pot. All others to be measured & released unharmed.

2. The Trophy will be awarded to the person catching the largest Smoothound or largest combined length of Smoothound/s. In the event of no Smoothounds being caught. The Trophy will be awarded to the person catching the largest combined length of other fish species.

3. All fish are to be measured in Centimetres (Please bring a tape measure if you have one available. You will also require a pen & paper to record catches.

4. If it is practicable, all fish caught, will be witnessed by the competitor fishing next to you. This will depend on how crowded the venue is on the day.

5. Competition start & finish times will be decided on the day.

6. To keep things simple Mackerel will not count. All Dogfish & Silver Eels will count as 50cm each.

7. A maximum of two rods may be fished by the competitor at any one time. A maximum of three hooks may be used on each. However you may feather for mackerel & Launce etc for bait at the same time provided it doe’s not interfere with other competitors.

8. The venue is to be the Seaton main beach, Devon. This will depend upon the prevailing weather, wind & tide conditions on the day, as other local beaches may be more sheltered & better suited.

9. All litter to be disposed of responsibly.

10. As we will probably be fishing close to a town and very noticeable, all noise & disturbance should be kept to a minimum.

hope this agrees with everyone

Sounds like you need the Acme portable groyne kit. Weighs an absolute ton, and is a right sod to put up, but it's guaranteed to tether at least one good fish per session. RRP is £50, but I'll do you a one time special offer of only several hundred pounds. What'd ya say mate??? I'll even throw in a couple of Pingu Pies if you want. It's a bargain.
