Re: what rod to buy ??? help

In my opinion and this is only my opinion. Forget Shakespeare. They have a great range of Ugly Stick rods but the rest are pretty poor. I have rods from all the manufacturers you mention. Living in Spain Grauvell are massive over here. With out a doubt they make the best telescopic rods on the market, but for beachcasting I would go for a Diawa. My first beachcaster was a Diawa Moonraker, endorsed by Paul Kerry. Great rod for the price. I still have it now almost 22 years later.
I have never been a fan of Penn. Their top of the range Big Game fishing tackle is very good. The rest is OK at the best. The finishing on a lot of mid and low end Penn tackle is poor.

But like everything, you get what you pay for.
