Re: its here

Team USA have impressed, I thought they were unlucky against Brazil.

Spain have had some good spells,I would love to see Torres in the premiership next season (unless he becomes a chav! ).

Re: its here

A couple of questions:
1 Why is the goalies jersey so different from the rest of the team?
2 Does the arm band mean the team captain?
3 What is the yellow card for, specifically?
4 Why does the yellow card carry over to the next game?
5 Does the red card carry over too?
6 Do players need the ref.s 'permission' to come on and off the field?

I have more.......lets start w/these
Thanx

ps. The Korean guy, that scored their goal, plays for Man U?
The Staples Center (BIG stadium) in L.A. CA filled up w/Koreans to watch on the Jumbotron. As much fun watching them as the game. ABC kept switching to the S. Ctr, whenever the Korean team did something of note.

Re: its here

1, Don't really know, could just be so the ref. can tell him from the rest of the team as he is the only one who can handle the ball in the area (unless your called Drogba).
2,In general yes.
3+4,The yellow card is a severe warning for foul play and in league football it adds up until a player has accumulated enough to be banned for a set amount of games. This would not work in a tournament and so it carries over for a set amount of games decided by the governing body (FIFA, UAFA,FA and so on).
5,The red card is for serious foul play, violent conduct and such. It is instant and does not carry over as a ban will follow normally. Two yellows + one red and the ref can show a red if he thinks the infraction is severe enough.
6, Yes.

I hope this helps, but just like the off side rule (don't ask, the refs can't even get that right) my opinion is open to interpretation and if anyone else has an opinion then I am certain they will let you know.

All the best.
