Breaking contracts Only in football are you allowed to break a contract and get away with it ie the alex ( baked bean ) mcliesh fiasco at birmingham ,in any other job you would be made to see out your contract or have to buy your way out i e the army ect ,,money in football has taken it away from the common man and made it a sport controlled not by fifa or the fa but by the over paid pre maddonas that participate in it ,,in the case of alex mcliesh he is a disgrace but no different from any other manager or football player he broke a signed contract and didnt even have the courtesy to do it face to face but by email ,in no way should he or any other manger also be allowed to poach the top players from thier previous club that is an insult beyond belief ,also the players and managers from a relegated team should be made to stay with that team for a year after relegation surely alot more cost effective to the fa than parachute payments and saving the club from insolvency ,come on fifa and fa lets get the game sorted out a cap on club spending and tighter reins on the middle men ,we the common man want our game back ,, what does everyone think ???

Re: Breaking contracts the problem with 'forcing' players and managers to stay at a relegated club is the payment of wages due under that contract ..Unless they agree to a pay cut inline with championship wages , they will hold the club over a barrel and sadly always seem to win in the end.. Big Eck should have stayed in the Scotland job and Martin O'neil at Villa but things happen - usually down to quick fire chairmen and directors of the board who know jack shit about football ... Ironically i have supported man united since i can remember but seriously contemplated changing to a lesser team without the overpaid fan robbers like Ronaldo ( I liked the idea of Villa because of the shirt sponsorship deal - or lack of it ) .. I personally think if the english premier league is the best in the world then you can keep it ! the real fans are all lower league ....I feel your pain mate - christ we had Tony Mowbray a sa manager and would happily have given him away free ! __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Breaking contracts I think the players` and managers` agents have a lot to answer for. It suits them to have a player move while still under contract with a club, as it means another bumper pay-off for them. I think Mcleish should either honour his contract on be forced to buy out the remainder. If had been the other way round and the club had treated him the same way............? As for players wanting out of contracts, I`d stick them in with the 2nd string for 6 months and generally make their lives hell, but I suppose their agents would have that eventuality covered in their contract too ![]()

Re: Breaking contracts Lets be honest Chaz, if you were offered a better job at a better company would you not move. I know a lot of people that would. It is also possible that he will have a penalty clause in his contract if he does go early, I know I did on my last contract. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk

Re: Breaking contracts scottish i was thinking the same the real footy is in the lower leagues the prem will implode in the end and if tickets plus astronomical wages ect keep increasing i can see gates falling in favour of sky ect because it in the end is the fans who pay at the gate ,cost me 50 quid for a ticket to watch blues at chelsea out of a music teachers wages thats is alot of cash,,,im mad at mcliesh for bailing out the way he did without an ounce of dignity by email that is a cowards way and leaving us in the s*88 after dropping us out of the prem his football was awful and to be honest im glad he has gone just not the way he did but now we stand to loose all our top players larson gone philips ,gardener will go johnson and the signings he made at the end of the season were crap to say the least and mclish has no guilt ,,but this could be any club look at pompi they were nearly finished
