No surprise there , Bribes , or did the panorama programme on tv the other week bite us .

The world cup would of cost us millions that in this time of recession can be spent elsewhere ,Eg schools , hospitals .
Fifa Now have a policy of giving it to developing football Nations that's why they chose Russia and Qatar(bloody hot there )
been to Moscow , horrible place if your a football fan , but nice as a tourist and the football hooligans are worse than ours

Totaly agree coming from birmingham im amazed where birmingham council were getting the cash from to build and redevelop all these venues especially when we are the worst run councill and millions in the red , and agree with nic it is a time of recession surely the money should be spent on rebuilding our economy about time we got priorities right ,i recently worked in a special needs school in brum that had no funding left for the kids till next year one of the classes was given 30 pound budget what a joke ,,,the nhs is becoming a joke with no staff doctors doing 2 jobs to make up the lack of traind staff ,,,dont even go there with public transport worst in europe ,as for housing bham is short of adequate council housing in all areas ppl living in cramped conditions and alot more sleeping rough im sure this can be echod all over brittain not just england ,,,so i say good we havent got the world cup now cough up our money cameron and spend where its needed ,,,and as for fifa cant wait to see your reactions after you see the russian and polish hooligans in action make us look soft

Bad blow for England, but unfortunately the Russians didn`t have a full blown riot the night before the vote. I can`t help thinking, that the result might have been different had this not have happened.

I think the decision was made months ago.

Putin said he was not turning up. What I read in to that was "if you don't vote for Russia I AM turning up". He can't be all bad as he's an angler and I am sure as I ever want to be that getting on his wrong side could be messy.

Personally I think the English had a strong case but were arrogant in thinking it was between them and Russia. Qatar will throw millions at this and not even blink. They'd (England) would have wasted billions (the cost would have rocketed) just to get England knocked out because the football clubs will always place club over country.

Putin will also be in charge again by the time of the cup so if you're thinking of doing any holligan stuff I strongly recommend you get used to this tropical weather we are having as you'll find yourself in just a pair of speedos in Siberia if you cock about over there.

but
why when we went for 20 whatever cup.. could we not also go for the one after????.. why do we only bid for one???

and ok I know we lost and from what i see that will save a few quid , but would it not be better to put efforts into qualifying for a cup( win one after 35+ yrs) than to host it
