however have been wanting to try my/our hand at either bass or mackeral somewhere down on the south coast, just don't know the spots!!!!.Not asking you to divulge specific spots, just venue's in general.Have been told about a place at/near shoreham-i think,if i remember correctly, that is red hot for bass. Someone also said that Seaford beach on the right occasion will throw up mackeral close in. I do a lot of trout fishing these days, far more than coarse. |

| Re: come on summer!!!! Hi Mate, No Don't mind at all telling you where you can go Fishing on the south coast for that type of Fishing, It was just that I thought you were into freshwater only. Mackeral you need to be in the right place at the right time fishing from the Beach near me, Brooklands near Lancing however seems to throw up good shoals in the Evenings mid to late summer. But having said that you can almost garantee you will catch on Brighton marina wall...down to low water, obviously settled weather helps which brings crystal clear waters for feathering. Bass fishing Hotspots is probably anywhere along the sussex coast, you will struggle not to catch a Bass with right preparation and Bait. Big Bass beaches however is a different story, then again if you study your game it is blantently obvious, Rock features covered in kelp, hiding a number of delicious morsels for Bass, ie shrimp, prawn, gobies, pout etc etc. If you are prepared to travel as I see you live in Surrey, Brighton Marina has turned up a number of decent double figured Bass to live prawn Baits, prawns collected in the nearby rock pools by the East arm are abundant around May June to late summer, take a decent net to sweep under the rocks covered in kelp, the kelp harbours the prawns, If your really keen, get some fresh black lug and try between the West pier and Hove lagoon beaches.( well known for turning up good Bass ) Now if your a flyfisherman, do yourself a big big favour, try a fly on these beaches, Bass Fly....calm settled weather, crystal waters...thats exilerating Bass fishing! whether School Bass or a couple of pound in weight its still bloody good fun. Please know your take home sizes and don't be greedy! Tight lines my friend. ![]() |

| Re: come on summer!!!! Think it 50cm imposed limmit by sea anglers, bear in mind a bass only grows 1lb a year of it`s life and dont mature till its 2 to 4 years old (depending on sex) so if they are small they may not have reproduced.
