Looks ok,however is #7 weight really sufficient? and is that reel saltwater proof?

Re: salt water fly fishing starter gear

Take it from me (having learnt the hard way), swill the reel in freshwater everytime you iuse it.
I have one fly reel that DID have two spools. I failed to follow my advise and now I have one spool permanently connected. Doh!

In clear water I reckong sea fly (alongside Kayak fishing) is going to be one way of keeping sea fishing going ).

Re: salt water fly fishing starter gear

why do you need a line above a seven.I only use 6 weights, even for school bass, less for my chalk stream fishing, some times a 3 weight. it is the
casting that most anglers get caught out on, pratice practice , then have a rest then practice again. Then a whole new world opens up as your catch
rate increases, from your new found skill. Ask any good caster on this site
and they will tell you the same. tight lines.

Never fished the sea with fly gear(keep meaning to try it out),only guessing that was all.I use 3 weight and 6 weight most of the time. Was just going by general trains of thought on the subject.
