| Oi Oi all, As previously stated, I intend to have a bash at salty fly fishing when the weather is better. Still, can anyone suggest a rocky shoreline with easy access around the Weymouth / West Bay area. I need easy access as the only way I'll be able to swing a trip is to take the family out to the 'seaside'. I say Weymouth etc. as I live in Somerset & know how to get there! |

| Sorry mate don't know of anywhere down there, I've done all my fishing up and down North Devon and Cornish coastlines and its taken me a few years to suss it out and find my marks. A good Ordnance survey map of the areas you want to try is worth the investment. Happy hunting. __________________ Eventually all things merge into one, and a River runs through it. | Re: Where Now? I've no idea about good marks around Weymouth either, I'm afraid, but, I agree with Smoothy, looking at a good OS map might suggest where suitable features are and how you can get to them without too much 'kerfuffle' The tide times on www.easytide.ukho.gov.uk is quite useful too, since fishing the rising tide is best, while looking at the sub-sea features is best at low tide. How old are your offspring ? They might get involved too. I can remember having great fun from the age of about 7 fishing for crabs with limpet bait on one of those orange handlines you get at the seaside. Hope you all have a great time and the fishing is good. |

| Re: Where Now? Hi Folks, The pier at West Bay is now finished and open for fishing. Although I have never fly fished for Bass the West side of the coast round from the pier is noted as a Bassing area. I have caught Bass from the shore under the Golden Cap (Chideock) all along the coast to West Bay. If you are a camper or caravanner there is a National Trust/Camping & Caravan C.L. 5 minutes walk from the shore. There are numerous Caravan Club C.L's. in and around Chideock and Eype. Hope that this helps, please PM me if you require further information. Cheers Drew |
