Sunday bloody Sunday

I knew it was fatal, took the kids for a wee stroll down River as they were driving me made indoor's, I'm really not a indoor person anyway, so do not need an excuse, but it is fatal...umming and urring whether to take the fly Rod with me, but after Yesterday's result in the Boat I really didn't want to disapoint myself further....
Turned up to see no surface action at all, relief! half an hour later splash jump splash! some really nice fish chasing fry into the margin's! Oh.....!!! Wondering what to do for at least an hour, pondering, do I? don't I? go back for my Rod... ,bloody frustrating this game at times.
No I won't, because purely that would add even more insult to injury making the 20 minute journey home and then getting back and blanking, thrashing away at the water as you do! so I sat there whilst the kids played in the rock pool's watching some amazing surface action now and again, laughing to myself as in the near distance, I spied an angler thrashing away at the water, for nearly an hour and not even moving from the spot he was spinning, another hour went by, the kids still preocuppied, I contemplated walking down to the angler spinning to tell him about the action further up, but nah!, It certainly is an education walking and up and down the river discovering little pockets of action here and there.

Re: Sunday bloody Sunday

It really sounds like u was having a good sulk yesterday,
its always the same leave your rod behind and the fish arrive.
The fish must have a 6th sence and know u are no threat and
just turn up to make things worse.
There is always tomorrow to try your luck , great post, good luck next time.

The Biggest sulk ever Jeff, I can remember a sulk like that, aged five and Mom and Dad got me the bloody wrong thunderbirds Rocket for xmas, LOL.
You have to laugh though or else you'd cry, had one bit of luck Saturday though, picked up some tackle in the local shop and an old boy befriended me and started chatting away...told me a spot on a river where there used to be some Good sized Bass and he reckon's I should try it out with the fly rod, also he told me a local hatchery not far, has rainbows that get washed into n the river system there when we have almighty down pour's, will check it out in due course.

Wink Re: Sunday bloody Sunday

How many times have you been fishing, not done very well, so decide to pack up and as soon as you turn from the water, gear packed away, the fish rise and splash all over the place? It`s hard to take.
