last nights fishing Went down the tidal stretch of my local river last night High water 3 .am 10.7 m. wATER full of scum at to wait for an hour for the scum to run of before we started to see some action. As i was about to lift of the water to recast my fly a small bass splashed at the fly, a quick flick of the rod back out rose my rod to bring the fly up to the edge of the bank the same again this happend 3 times before he nailed the fly, a small school bass. ![]() Next fish was another small one but still great to catch ![]() Was having a few pull s but nothing hooking up when my mate caught one about 4lb in weight ![]() It was about 4.40 am now and day light was upon us as u can tell in these photos ![]() no more fish but another greatnight out

Re: last nights fishing The real reason he looks so upset is he dunked his ball in the water and watched it disappear up stream, prior to this photo...talk about stressed! ![]()

Re: last nights fishing That river is a tad smaller than mine flyman, reminds me of another local river fairly close by, which has given me an idea or two, many years ago i used to fish it and dig rag worm, let it trot down the river with the tidal flow and used to have about five or six schoolies in one session, never anything above a pound, so i may find myself taking a trip down memory lane with the fly rod, i don,t seem to be doing very well at night still, maybe it will fish better later, saw a shoal of mullet tonight all probably over 5lb in a huge shoal of about twenty or more, unfortunately there is a lot of scum on the surface with the mini heatwave we have encoutered down here and we have may bloom, bad at sea and up my river. Do you get shoals of mullet in that location where you fish and are the Bass amongst them? or do they pass through first and the Bass tend to follow up later...just wondered as that tended to happen up the other river. ![]()

Re: last nights fishing I'm assuming that's at least 80% a border collie there. Used to have one (100% her mum lived on a farm and her dad lived on the one next door). She would have been in the bloody river after that ball regardless of how many times I shouted "DOWN, LEAVE IT" :) Lovely dogs and I miss mine a lot. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk
