Hi just got a 10ft 6 3piece 8/9 fly rod.Any good for SWFF'ing (as the saying goes) cos theres a reasonable bass beach near me.Can walk miles out as well

You'll struggle with the length, longer rods are harder to move into strong headwinds that you'll often encounter on the shore, and the leverage on your arm may be too much to handle unless you're Jack Dempsey. A short, fast-actioned rod in the right hands will result in tighter loops and higher line speeds when casting, resulting in more distance. A 9ft rod would be better so if you can, sell this rod and get something shorter. I never go above 9ft 6" for fly fishing nowadays, except from boats where I use a 10ft rod, however such occasions are few and far between.
