| 1st bass 2009 Popped out again last night to see if the bass arrived after a couple of blank sessions of late. Left the valleys 10pm were it was quite breezy arrived at river nice and mild no wind perfect. High water was about 5 mins past 11 pm 10.7m at cardiff i think as the tide tables are a bit of a mess this year. Casting our elver flies out for about an hour with no luck i seen abit of movement in the surface i cast and stripped the fly , all of a sudden the line went solid into my first bass of the year i forgot how wellthey fight .  about 4lb MY mate was next 2 catch i  There was a few fish showing but they were feeding on the olive shrimps which i for got to take. no more fish for me but my mate managed 1 more. packed up about 1 am cant wait for our next trip. | Re: 1st bass 2009 Cracking fish. Up until last night (see report), I've only ever had Bass on full beach casting gear. Now I know how they can go on a little spinning rod, god only know what they must be like on fly gear.  I'll have to give it a try one day......  Well done!
