Thumbs up Re: fly weymouth

The Ferrybridge area at the mouth of the Fleet is your best bet mate. Any local tackle shop should be able to point you in the right direction. I've always found Weymouth Angling Centre on the Harbourside or Dennings Tackle on the Portland road very helpful. Good luck.....

Re: fly weymouth

I believe some of the Fleet is classed as a nature reserve. Local Tackle shops should be able to advise which areas are fishable. I think down by the Ferrybridge is OK. There is also a Visitor Centre in the carpark that's on the right hand side of the Portland road. I expect they will know too. They also have an underwater camera that's linked to a TV in the visitor centre. It's quite interesting to watch for a while. You get some great footage of Bass & Wrasse etc in their natural habitat.

Re: fly weymouth

You can fish in the fleet from the shore. It is a nuture reserve at the top section by Abbotsbury. However it is a Bass nursery area. The fish that you would have seen topping would be Mullet. There are thousands of them up the fleet.
I have fished on a number of spots around Portland Harbour for Bass on the fly and on Plugs. Near the sailing centre is a good spot for them and Castletown harbour near the dockyard on Portland. Easy access by the castle and safe parking.

Re: fly weymouth

May is a very good time for the Bass in Portland Harbour. I have caught most of my Bass in the harbour at that time of year.
