Bass fishing last night

Set of down to my local river at 11.30pm about 25 mins drive to the tidal
water. THE weather was great no wind just alittle bit cold really keen to
get going on our first bass session of the year.
Arrive at our spot to find the water like glass make it easy for spotting the bass,
fished for an hour didnt didnt see or have a sniff of a bass so we head of back to the car rolled our waders down and headed of for our other river we now
about.arrived at the water ready to start 2am again every thing looked perfect
just no fish showing which was strange, put a gold head elver looking fly on to fish abit deeper 1st cast 3 half pounder which ikept for todays dinner things were looking up.I made the mistake of not useing the reel when landing the fish
treading on my line in 8 inches of muck you get in a right mess.
as you can see in the photo which is not the best.

Finished with 3 fish kept the 1 in the picture my mates had afew on but didnt land any .the fish was full of small olive shrimps so be tying them up for the next trip.

Thumbs up Re: Bass fishing last night

Nice repot Flyman & a tasty looking Bass too. Never thought about fly fishing for Bass in the dark. I usually associate that with Sea Trout. Might take a look at the Ferrybridge Weymouth.

Ive fished the same marks in the day with no result ,
they become switched on in the dark and are really keen
to take the fly.

Re: Bass fishing last night

It must take some skill to land a bass on a fly, but in the dark? Awesome. Well done mate.
