Another lesson at fluff chucking

Today my coach Fisherdan and I took a trip down Warsash for my second lesson in fluff chucking....this time though it was salt water fly fishing.

I picked Dan up around 11am,we took a ferry from Hamble over to Warsash to find a good spot away from the public....just for safety reasons (my casting).

For some reason Dan got the tide times wrong and it was low tide when we arrived. Not too worry, as I had my waders with me so we walked into the water of the low tide and took some practice cast.

Dan showing me how the casting suppose to be done lol

We moved on after about an hour, as we couldn't buy a bite, even though we saw some shoolie bass jumping around the water.

On our next stop we managed 2 cod............................................... ...............................

and chips at the pub lol

After filling our bellies with dinner and an ice cream for desert, we moved further west, found a nice spot and tried again.

By now the tide started to come in and I started to give this casting palava a good try out (with very little success)

I really like this picture, Dan waited for the right moment for the boat to be at the same view level as me.

After about 20 mins trying really hard to cast in a straight line, my effort was rewarded by a great bend in the rod, reel screeching , huge fight of this mahoooooosive bass

schoolie lol

My first bass ever, on my first time sea water fly fishing, on a fly tied by Dan the master himself.....things are looking good.

Sadly we couldn't stay for much longer, as we had to catch the last ferry back but before we went I managed another schoolie bass, a little smaller than the first.

I was just about to call it a day, when Dan shouted 'I got one, I got one and it feels a good one'.

Indeed he managed a schoolie bass too 3 times bigger than mine and I was really chuffed to bits for him.

Dan ties superb flies, his casting is amazing and he is a great teacher.

Keep the good work up Dan.....you doing a cracking job and you are a great angler.

Did I mention that everything Dan does in his fishing is self taught?!!!

Great young man, thanks a lot for a wicked day.

Next time we will go to a trout fishery in search for a rainbow...I'm already looking forward to it.
