| A friend of mine recently passed away and I have been asked to sell his Fly Fishing kit for them as he was my fishing partner. I do not fly fish myself but we used to sea fish together. The advice I need is this, he had 2 rods I am unsure of the value for... the first is a ABU Royal Carbolite 2689, 9.5 feet rod rated at 7-9. The second rod is a Garrick of Dorset Ferulite rod, 8.5 feet long but there is no line rating on it. Both rods are in excellent condition and the Garrick rod does not look as if it has ever been used even though it is obviously the older rod. I apologise if I see mercenary asking for info about a dead mans rods, but I want to do the best I can by his family and not get ripped off when I sell them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Plugger SW __________________ Today is a good day to go fishing |

| Re: I need some advice please Welcome to the forum Plugger & sorry to hear that you lost a fishing buddy. I've been flyfishing for over 25 years & have heard of neither of these rods. I know ABU are still making fly rods but I could only find this model mentioned once during an internet search & that was included in an auction of old tackle. I could find no mention of Garrick. I would imagine that these are long defunct models & would probably only be of any interest to a collector. Try advertising them on ebay. __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org |
