Re: Flying For Peacock Bass

They look as though they may be related to our European Perch. Real feisty looking.

Re: Flying For Peacock Bass

We had a thing awhile back with Snakeheads getting released in native waters and wreaking havoc on the ecosystem.......I don't remember where, back east...I think they ended up poisoning the whole body of water and restocking. They were still praying that no Snakeheads made it to moving water, like a river.

Great fish!!!! and pix.

Re: Flying For Peacock Bass

yeah, snakeheads are really ferocious.

Over here snakeheads and peacock bass live together. If the snakehead tries to attack the peacocks, the peacocks will fight back as a school, sometimes overpowering the snakeheads.

Today i went to hunt for some snakeheads again but only managed to get a big miss. I was using a pencil when there was a huge splash right next to my lure...oh well!! i'll try next time.

Get ready for my pics!

Re: Flying For Peacock Bass

In your countries i heard that if you catch a snakehead, you have to immediately kill it and cannot release it. Is that true?

Re: Flying For Peacock Bass

Ugly looking things. Previously I had always thought that Snakeheads were the Chinese Mafia. Learn something new every day.

Re: Flying For Peacock Bass

Fascinating.

Over here the snakeheads look really different from the ones over at your side. http://www.fishingkaki.com/forum/files/dsc01381_182.jpg

These monsters can grow up to 8kg in Singapore and about 30kg in Malaysia.

Re: Flying For Peacock Bass

UGLY?!?!?! The snakeheads here are considered beauties! When someone catches one, he/she is encouraged to release them back into the wild, so as to conserve the population of snakeheads.
