Re: fly fishing in devon There's some excellent fly fishing on the Teign, Dart & Exe. And some good free fishing at Avon Dam near Buckfastleigh.

Re: fly fishing in devon Is the Avon dam stocked - and what size fish are up there?

I believe it's lightly stocked with Brownies. I've never caught anything big there but the fish are very pretty. Traditional methods are best. Cast then move along a pace & cast again to cover the water. A team of small dark flies fished close to the bank. Biblio', zulus & Daiwl Bachs do well for me there, fished very slow. Takes are usually lightning fast tugs. The downwind end of the lake usually fishes best.
