Question which fly?

hi folks,
just wondering what fly would you reconmend for catching trout on dark water?

any feed back appreciated

i`ve been using greenwells glory

there was a saying dark water dark fly, light water light fly, but this has never been the case for me, it all really depends upon the water you fish, chop and change is the best bet, asking other anglers at the water is another most are happy to help so long as you're not hanging around for hours, that does tend to get slightly annoying

Oi Oi,

Over the years I would say that black based flies have served me well in dark / stained water. This has held true on both still & running water.

Also, being a lure angler, I've found that black crankbaits & spinners, have taken a lot of fish in similar conditions.

Possibly the dark water, dark fly way of thinking does have something going for it.
