i tried trout fishing for the fist time on saturday could not get the hang of using a fly rod and reel can anyone suggest another method i wish to return my catch unharmed plus the best time to go trout fishing

does depend upon teh venue though, some are fly only venues OR... crickets and grasshoppers

They'll take most things providing the water allows it. Spinning can work and trotting with maggots on rivers but a lot of trout waters are fly only (well, fly rod and some for of artificial lure as a lot don't even represent flies these days!)
