Re: fly fishing in hampshire

i went on work experience to a very good place, but very expencive
its on the Itchen near west end(i think)
place named gaters mill or itchin lower valley fishery (something along those lines)
i think for trout its around £70-100 a day but you get a long stretch of the river to your self which is very well managed and stocked, the guy also offers help for a small price, real top guy! makes all his own flys and everything, any question you ask he will know
if you want his phone number pm me and i will send it to you

Re: fly fishing in hampshire

Not quite Hampshire but in Chichester harbour the people from Orvis in Chichester are taking guys out in a boat to a sand bank at the entrance to the harbour where they give lessons and try to catch bass. They are all in their waders and fish until the water is up to their chests then the boat comes and takes them back to shore.

An unreliable fisherman I know said he caught 70 school bass in the harbour on the fly in one session last year!!

Talking Re: fly fishing in hampshire

Oi Oi and Welcome Jack,

Have a look at Avon Springs, Durrington in Wilts. Just by Stonehenge.
Two lakes and a good stretch of the Hampshire Avon. Grayling, wild Brownies and Rainbows. At £40-£50 per day not too extortionate.

Be lucky.

Re: fly fishing in hampshire

For the Bass fishing lessons in Chichester Harbour contact
Orvis Compnay Inc. 34 South Street Chichester. 01243-792140.

We also have our own fly fishing guru on here. Goes by the name of Old Smoothound, I've not met him yet but from his posts he's forgotten more about all types of fishing than I'll ever know. He's always helpful.
