Talking Quick Tip #2

Oi Oi,

For a slightly different type of lure, set a size 10 long shank in the vice. Catch in thread and run to bend of hook. Tie in a marabou tail in desired colour with a few strands of crystal flash or similar. Tie in a length of ultra lace, nymph glass or CLEAR mono fishing line. Tie in ribbing material, I tend to use silver or gold wire. Run thread back to eye of hook. Now the clever? bit, wrap the shank of the hook with aluminium kitchen foil, shiney side out. Run your body material forward over the foil and tie off. Repeat with the ribbing. Build head and whip finish. Three coats of head varnish and it's job done. With the foil under body you get a lovely reflective lure. I use white marabou with clear 30lb mono or clear lava lace as a fry immitation. I tie the tail fairly sparse.

Re: Quick Tip #2

Like it a lot. Sounds good and also a bit more resilient than foil sometimes is after a few chomps by Mr trout.

Also liked the 'tumble nymph' idea (tip #3). Often wondered what to do with the fluffy stuff, apart from throw it in the bin. I guess the shortness of the fibre isn't a problem 'staying on' the waxed thread (after being wound on the hook) ? Perhaps one for the dubbing loop ?

Thanks for the ideas Skinhead.
