Re: rooksbury mill hampshire

I live right near it mate its no longer up and running as a trout fishery, was a good venue in its day.
Its a huge weeded up nature reserve now, but had some cracking perch from there on a little mepps spinner.

Re: rooksbury mill hampshire

im close too , it was sold to local council ,£ 300.000,green space, huge offers turned down ,bit of back scratching hmm . spent 3 years after a large pike ,few bites on trout 6 inches across ,didnt catch her ,after i left she was found dead ,close to 40 lb ,shes in a case now.

this is now a nature reserve , enviro agency do check few times a day and have taken people to court ,and fined them ,im glad this spring water lake is no fishing now.

we grew a few big trout on to 18 lb plus ,for mill lake 20 plus went in ,few come out. when place closed local kids cleared out the trout on spinner.

Re: rooksbury mill hampshire

The mill is sadly closed now ,private flats now in old house ,the mill itself is in the doomsday book ,with ship timbers in roof, was a mink farm in the 60s and marsh land. lakes were created for gravel for A303 ,spent few years working there , shame that a trout fishery ,that grew its own trout was closed ,hatchery as well ,sad to walk past the fish farm ,looking at farm ponds that we built, most of the course fish were moved to new lakes.

being a keen angler myself ,im myself glad its green land now,as there were plans for land fill and houses being built there ,thanks to water rats being protected its maintains its natural beauty as a spring fed lake
