Which is best for a newbie??

Hi all,
Just registered so a new user and 1st post!!!

After being on holiday just outside Berwick on tweed i've discovered the delights of fly fishing on the river whiteadder and I'm hooked!!!(parden the pun!!!) I'm looking to upgrade my rod/reel etc as it's a £40 beginner set that I'm using!!!( saying that I caught 2 lovely rainbow trout with it at my local fishery, still got the smile on my face!!!) was toying between the greys grxi+ with reel to match, the greys xflite or the greys xf2 both with reels to match?? Any help, advice or suggestions would be gate fully received !!!

Many thanks
Steven

Hi Steve,

I've had a Lureflash Cobra rod and a Viper reel for 8yrs, total cost about £80.00,
Fished with them summer & winter. best fish 12lb rainbow. Why spend all that money, the fish do'snt know what you've got above the water line

You only need to upgrade your kit if you are looking to catch a better class of fish!

It is a scientifically proven fact that quality fish can only be caught on quality tackle!

Oh and by the way I have a nice Sage rod going spare that you can buy for £500

Re: Which is best for a newbie??

Are you saying that quality fish do not want to be caught on inferior tackle.
Where did you get this scientific RUBBISH from

I think it was meant tongue in cheek flydog lol

Hi LBH76, welcome to the forum. If you are happy with and catching fish the set-up you have just now, then why change? I have Hardy, Sage and Partridge rods and reels, but love fishing with a 7`0" Wychwood set up that cost a fraction of the others.
