Re: Some old gear any help

You would be better posting the picture of the first rod in the coarse section because it is a Richard Walker Carp rod , do not let it go to cheap as I think they are quite rare now.

It might be an idea to contact a chap called Phil Waller who is an anglng historian and tackle collector his email is philipwaller@msn.com he should be able to give you some idea of the value .H e came to our Guild meeting last year and has a very good knowledge of old fishing tackle

Hi Jeff, some cracking old gear there. An idea for a quick guide to prices(although a rough one), under fishing on ebay, go to Vintage section on the menu, You might get an idea what prices are being asked for same or similar.

Re: Some old gear any help

The b james carp rod will certainly fetch some dough. The fly rod should fetch a bob or two also. Both look to be in nice condition. The sharpes rods(new)start at around £300.
As suggested take a look on ebay vintage section, you will certainly get some idea there.
The reels all have 'some' value, not great though, the speedex and Beaudex possibly more than say the shakespeare reel.Usually some Beaudex's around on ebay The creel could be worth a bob or two as well

Cane rods seem to go up and down in value.Guess it depends on how many people are looking for that item(if using ebay for instance)specifically.
A few years back i sold a cane Chapmans pike rod, expected to get around £75,ended with £125 with two buyers outbidding each other!!!!!!!!!.

Re: Some old gear any help

A couple more photo,s

The rod is 117 inches and seems to be in great condition.
We have also found another mitchel reel garcia mitchel 208 the 300 as a screw on the face missing
as you can see in the photo.
