Re: Fly Fishing beginner set up please

i have a shakespear 6 weight rod and reel combo, its a little stiff but does the trick. got it as a present so don't know how much it was, i took it to to dever springs, my 3rd fly fish outing and outfished all the cardboard cutout fisherman

don't worry about what reel you get,as it's purely there just to keep your line on.

Hi benacre, yorkshire game angling have some complete starter kits at very reasonable prices, I am sure you could get one to suit you, check the web site.

Either a 6 or 7 weight outfit would suit, possibly erring on a 7 weight to start .Take a look on Ebay-
Fladen'Vantage' rods, usually plenty on there at around £20/£25,good value 4 section rods.Shakespeare Alpha wide arbour reels, spare spool incuded somewhere around £20.Google Pitsford Pirate Fly Lines, good value lines or take a look at [url]www.impactflies.com. Very good value lines at around £17.Chris at 'Impact' also does value tapered leaders at £1.25 each, not THE best quality but plenty good enough to learn with.

Thats 3 different kits ! Trout on a res would be 10ft 6/7 or 7/8 weight. You can buy a cheapy rod for £25 or £30 but as previously mentioned the cork handle would be mainly filler. Cliff Harvey Angling has a good deal on at the moment Pawl 4pce fly rod with lifetime guarantee which can be transferred to a new owner if you decide to upgrade for around £75. He also has some good deals on reels. Also saw Legend fishing had a 4pce rod in a 5wt with lifetime gntee on offer just before Christmas for £29.99. They also had a 4/5 weight Pflueger reel for £7,99 including postage.
