Where to start with Fly fishing.

I have Never fly fished before in my life. I am going to start, But I don't know where to start. How can I learn casts etc.

Should I just practice in my garden ?

First thing I would do, is arrange for a couple of lessons, you won`t regret it.

Lessons from who?, I live on an island mate so there's not alot of places to go.

Looks like it do or die for you then. Try you tube "fly fishing for beginners", for videos of the basic casts you need, ie The Roll cast and the Forward cast, which is all you need to start off. The rest is watching and practice, but always remember to clean the fly line if you`re casting on grass. Didn`t know you stayed on an island, or this would have been my reply. Good luck.

Thanks mate. I watched a few videos on youtube and it looks like I'll just need to go for it. As long as I don't hook myself I'll be happy.
