Season 2010 revisited

Well as another season officially bites the dust, it got me thinking of the highs and lows of the year.
The season got off to a slow start, due to the heavy snow, snowmelt and rain, which made fishing almost impossible.

Then we had the opposite end of the scale, when the long dry spells made it unfair to fish, as the oxygen and water levels were very low.

We had some great days out, from the friendly competative Fridays, searching for new stretches, meeting and chatting to other anglers, exchanging info. and sometimes even flies, all adding to the enjoyment of being on the river. Sometimes it was just enough to sit and admire the beauty of the surroundings and wildlife.

The first post I ever made was "One of my local rivers", which was just a post with some pics of the river itself. I noticed in the comments posted on the forum, that anglers outwith river fishing, see the beauty that we river anglers sometimes take for granted. Then the fish themselves, an added bonus to a day on the river.

All in all, a good season, finding new stretches,revisiting old ones, the satisfying fact that every fish caught, was on a fly tied by yourself, that even on blank days, it was still a joy to be there.

Well that`s enough of my inane drivel, except to say thank`s for the great comments left during the season and I`m looking forward to next season on the forum.

I have physio tomorrow with Stormtrooper Sue, but thanks to your comments you`ve cheered me up no end. Not the best season I`ve had on the river, but like all the others, brilliant. Aiming to go sea fishing before Christmas and New Year (hopefully),years since we did. Ooops, noticed 2nd bottom pic was from 2009, so I`ll post this one of me taken yesterday at Edinburgh Zoo

Thanks Steve, took that one of the big fella at the zoo yesterday. After about 10 minutes, he kept still for a few seconds. Sshh but in the bird house, I managed to get a couple of dozen feathers for tying, discarded by the birds amazing what they do if you shout BANG!

Hi Pete,
Great to se your pictures in one go,
like u said fishing is not everything , wildlife, meeting other fisherman,
and just being out inthe fresh air you just cant beat it.
Ive been sea fishing once already report on welsh fishing reports.
Hope to get out and take some shots of fish jumping the weirs before long.
