Id like to try river fishing and would like
some advice on what rod to buy.
I don.t want to spend a lot of money as
I may not use it very often.

Hi Sandra, You are fly fishing just now aren`t you? What rod are you using at present? What size of river are you on? I`m fishing a small to medium rivers and for dry fly fishing, I`m using a 7`0" 3/4wt rod, or an 8`0" 4wt if the river is a bit higher. For wets, a 9`0" 5/6wt if the water is higher than normal, although I`ll use the 8`0" for wets if the water is lower. Does this make sense to you? Hope this helps. Peter

Re: which rod

Hi Pete
I use a 10' 6# and fish stillwaters. It's just a small local river I'd like to
try and from what you say I think an 8' 4# should do to get started.
thanks for your advice
Sandra

Re: which rod

Hi Sandra, another forum I used to visit, did a review on the Fladen rods, particularly the 7`0" and 8`0" models, and gave them a really good write-up. You can buy them as a complete kit (reel inc.)for about £20.00 on ebay. They range from 7`0" upwards, which would meet your needs.
