Re: fly line advice needed

Hi Chris, I use 3 different lines for my #5 rod, all floating. I use an Airflo Ridge Presentation (WF5F), an Airflo Chalkstream Platinum double taper (DT4F), I find both lines very good, but the one I tend to use most is the Hardy Premium DT4F, which I also have in a DT2F, for dry fly fishing on small streams and burns. Re: fly line advice needed

Prefer Courtland, out lasts most premium lines, when i,m feeling rich,
But sometimes the pocket dictates, however having said that, when i first started i bought lureflash floater 6-7 and a very experienced angler was showing me a roll cast and couldnt believe how versatile this very inexpensive line was. ...........if all else fails ask a good tackle dealer thats good and not going to rob you blind.......if you pop the question and you see ££££ signs appear in his eyes do a runner!

Re: fly line advice needed

Hi, 96% of the time I fish small rivers and I find that the DT gives a better presentation of the fly, especially for dry flies. But as Captain Chaos says the WF should be ok. I normally find if you use a DT line, it`s better to use the weight below the rod rating, ie. WF7 - DT6 or WF5 - DT4. It`s a rule of thumb most anglers use. I mentioned the Airflos, because you can pick them up for £10-£12 on ebay just now. I have them in 4 different weights and can`t fault them. Peter

Re: fly line advice needed

Have to say , I wasn't happy with the memory that my airflo ridge #8 floating line developed over winter . just can't get it out . I am a novice fly fisher & interested to hear about dropping a weight as I've just accidentally bought #2 dt line for my new #3 rod .
