Flies for Brown Trout

This may sound stupid, but would someone be kind enough to give me some advice.
I want to buy some flies for when i go on a Fly Fishing Holiday to Wales, the place where i will be staying has a lake with Brown Trout in.
What i would like to know is when ordering flies what size hooks would be best suited, i am a bit of a novice so any help would be most appreciated.
Kind Regards
Yorkie

Re: Flies for Brown Trout

Hi Yorkie,
Just found latchygors website,
its a spring fed small stillwater any method but they prefure fly fishing.
Catch and release allowed so u need some barbless hooks or just flattern the barb with some pliers.
As for flies gold head damsels, blood worm, gold head hares ear nymphs, some black and green buzzers,
a few lures like, cats whisker, appettiser, black and green tadpole, and maybe acouple of sparklers.
Dont forget a few dry flys .
Garnfrydd is not to far away from there and is well worth visiting, Hywell morgan made a couple of programes down there a fantastic spring fed still water with browns and rainbows.
Type in Garnfrydd and u should get their web sight up.
Good luck on your trip look forward to your report when u get back.

Re: Flies for Brown Trout

Hello again Flyman,
sorry to bother you, but can you recommend someone who is reasonable with there prices regarding flies.
There are quite a few sites that advertise flies, but you don't know where they have been made if you know what i mean.
Thanks again
Yorkie
