| night fishing for bass Greenheart commented on flyman fishing at night for bass, how on earth do you convince a E.A, man that you are fishing for Bass? Just a thought, or wouldn't you catch sea trout on fly in the lower reaches of an estuary as they only feed or tempted to feed once at their spawning ground? |

Greenheart was right all my bass fishing i do at night, Ive been fishing for bass at night nearly ten years now with out catching 1 single seatrout. This is aquestion we often ask our selves why ent we catching the odd sea trout? The rivers we fish have got sea trout in them but not as many as the well known seatrout rivers of wales. I normally have a salmon licence which would cover me any how. I now most of the E.A. bailiffs in s.e.wales and a few of them have been bass fishing with me . Ill be out towards the end of march which is when we usally start catching the bass on the fly. Flyman |

| Re: night fishing for bass 7 weight is all i use sometimes even a 6 weight, Were i fish is up the river near the upper reaches of the tide. THe river is quite narrow no need to cast more than 6 yards and the banks cover us from most winds. Floater is all i need, i use leader of about 6 ft around 12lb so ican swing my fly in front of the bass when i spot them. Alone i fish in the dark we are right by street lights and u can see the bass even in quite merky water. your gear would be okay down here so give it a go were u are. I tend to fish small tideshour before high water and then fish the tide right out. The bigger tides bring in all the rubbish and u cant control your flies. Flyman |

| Re: night fishing for bass have been down to pembrokeshire, have a cousin in Tenby, The waters are alot murkier here than yours, the river i intend to try is very fast, i reckon i will only be able to fish at low and slack, as for spotting fish it might be possible up the high street in shoreham, plenty of light, if it holds fish, don't see why not. Thanks again for tips. |
