Smile Forum Fly fishing meet / clinic

There's been a fair amount of interest expressed in having a Forum fly fishing meet at Sutton Bingham reservoir near Yeovil. So after discussing this with my regular fly fishing partner Dognobbler (Pete) we've decided to try & organise a fly fishing meet combined with a bit of coaching for the less experienced. Sutton Bingham opens on the 17th March, but will probably be very crowded during the opening week, so i'm setting up a poll with a few alternative dates. I'm opting for late march to April as hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer with more fly life on the water.
A day ticket at Sutton Bingham costs £18 for a 5 fish limit. For more information, follow this link --> http://www.wessexwater.co.uk/recreat...=id&itemid=546

That sounds great Greenheart is there any idea on prices for the day??? I was told by work that we'd be paying £10-£15 but that was highly subsidised by work so I would expect a price around £35...does this sound about right???& how do we pay for the day do we get a day ticket there or how does it work?

I'm sure Pete or I can find a spare rod. I believe Ivan Tilsley, the Sutton Bingham ranger also has a few rods that he can loan out. Check out the link to the fishery... http://www.wessexwater.co.uk/recreat...=id&itemid=546

Re: Forum Fly fishing meet / clinic

Ah mate I just looked @ the calendar & my daughter goes to her mums every other weekend on the saturday...guess which saturdays she goes???you guessed it the ones you've specified...
I can make on the 3rd April & the 1st of May but we'll be there @ sutton bingham on the 17th April with work as well.
Dont know if you fancy a joint meet?we have about 10 of us from work going on the 17th & there will be a chuck fluffing session for inexperienced anglers as well on that day?have a think about it & let me know ok?

Re: Forum Fly fishing meet / clinic

Lman do not need i will loan you the gear on day, or can hire from lodge.Better still if you can get over to warminster i will give you a free casting lesson On grass, fist every body makes the mistake of buying a expensive day ticket at a fishery, then try to cast fly line, then wonder why they have not had a pull.and probably using a an unbalanced outfit, not suited to there style of casting, or stature. much better to cast properley then go trouting, then you won`t swear a smuch and won`t loose as many flies. Good luck in your quest for perfection.

Hmmm, fluff chucking huh? Tempted. Will ask around to borrow a rod. And a reel. And some fly's. .
