Re: One of my local rivers Only a couple of people on here will know what a piece and jam is...havent used that term for years, what with living in England for a long time.. You have quite a bit of kit there...looks very organised. What are the 2 yellow things on right hand side..they look like yellow cable from headphones..what are they used for?

Some great pictures of your fish looks like u got some good water. Rain hasnt turned up today yet so might be out wednesday the 3 march when our season starts on the rivers. Good luck for the coming season looking forward to your reports. Flyman (Jeff) |

Re: One of my local rivers Hi Jeff, This was stuff that amassed during last season, I was amazed when I emptied the pockets. I`ve got the Snowbee waist pack for this season, might help me to lighten the load. Our brownie season doesn`t start until the 15th Mar., but best of luck for the 3rd if you manage out. cheers Peter ![]()

Re: One of my local rivers Hi guys, Sorry, pretty old thread... Anyway, let's try there as it was speaking about the Glazert... I'm complete new in fishing so please don't make fun of me ;-) In the Campsie Angling Association 2011 permit, it's written "No fishing for brown trout from 7th of october to 14th March inclusive", it's now over then... But it's written "Salmon Season 11/2/11 - 31/10/11", so I guess we still have a few days for salmon. So I was wondering a few things: - Where to go with this permit to catch salmons? - What's happening if I catch a brown trout? I guess I obviously MUST release it but is it too late and therefore unlawful? I mean sometimes you don't really know what will be on your hook: you can be looking for salmon and catching unvolontary in good faith a trout. Just wanting to do things correctly and respect both the permit and the fish. I do only catch and release by the way. Well I don't catch a lot though! Thanks! Paul

Re: One of my local rivers Hi Paul, firstly welcome to the forum. In salmon fishing and grayling fishing, there will always be a chance of catching an out of season brown trout. If you are fly fishing for salmon, the odds are slim, due to the size and make up of the flies. However if you are trotting worms for salmon, the odds are greatly increased, as trout will readily take a worm bait. The rule is any trout caught out of season should be returned to the river right away. I think that if you got in touch with Campsie Angling Association.com they would be able to answer your questions about locations better than I can. Peter ![]()
