Wilderness fishing USA... where?

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum!

Has anyone any experience of fishing in the states? What I fancy doing is a bit of a wilderness hiking, fishing camping trip. I like mountain lakes and streams, primarily fishing for brown trout with light tackle.

Where can you do this in the USA without having to pay a guide an absolute fortune?

Thanks!

I haven't experienced fishing in USA but my friend was. I will ask her the exact place where they stay and do mountain hiking and fishing. I will get in touch with you again soon.

Re: Wilderness fishing USA... where?

I was talking about this with a friend in the states at the weekend. I was teling him that the fishing rights on the river that goes past my office window were up for sale for 120 grand!

He was horrified and told me that any river in his state of Maine was open for public fishing, just turn up and fish. Out of state visitors should however buy visitors permit which is $100
As far as he knows most states have similar policies
