Boobies do it again.

Boobies got us 3 good fish today - considering the cold wind it's wonderful still to be catching trout on flies at this time of year.

The way we fish with boobies is with a 6lb flourocarbon 18" leader and a slow figure of 8 retrieve. When you get a little tug keep coming with a slow retrieve and he'll hit you again and then tighten up on him OR give it a little 6 to 9" pull and leave it if he doesn't hit you then, start retreiving slowly again and look out for the 'bang' as you start the retrieve.

cheers

Cool Re: Boobies do it again.

Sounds a great day Fluffchucker, I find the Booby will catch even in the most adverse of weather conditions in winter. I have caugth Trout on them when the margins of the lake have been frozen.

I think that Rainbows sit on or just off the bottom because of the Thermoclyne. They find its just the right temperature and its not far from the food thats available to them in winter. Dahpnia, hog louse, blood worms, midge larvae cased caddis etc, that all live on or near the bootm during the colder months.

Nice to hear us fluffchuckers can still catch fish in Winter!

Re: Boobies do it again.

Go for it Ben. You won't be lugging around all that tackle and those lumps of lead.

Does the box say what weight of line it is? i.e FT7F which means it's a Forward Taper weight 7 Floating line. The weight 7 you must match to the rod to chuck a piece of 'fluff' properly.

Smoothie will probably know exactly what the line is ( I don't know the competition bit - but they normally cost more) and be able to tell you it's worth etc.

I don't know how the mail man mixed up our addresses - do you think it was meant for me

Santas been around early

Cheers
