Rods n Reels

I've been learning to cast for a while but with a very basic cheap rod n reel. Can anyone recommend a decent make of rod and reel to 'move up a gear' and improve my casting. What length and weight of rod is recommended? What type of line, weight forward etc.

many thanks

Ian

Re: Rods n Reels

The price of a rod wont help your casting.
The price of some expert advice and tuition may.
over weight your line to your rod, 6/7 rod 8#line
I have got sage, hardy and loomis rods but fish 90% of the time with a £20 spring creak from ebay.
Helped me to a top 10 place in the airflo bank open and team and best oversea angler in the melven open last year.
