Re: What Fly line should i choose?

Generally there is no best fly line, I assume you want a floater? If you shop around you could get yourself 2 for £60, a floater and an intermediate or slow sinker. Cortland are very good and if you want extra distance choose a 7wt instead of an 8wt, the reason is that the rod will need more line to load correctly, whereas with an 8wt line less line needs to be aerialized to load to the rod. Other good manufacturers include Hardy (the marksman lines are very good and are now selling at a lower price) and Scientific anglers.

Re: What Fly line should i choose?

what lines is best, now there`s a bag of worms, to work on, like pleccy said there is no best lines, but there are
good ones, one line that you should look at is the courtland intermediate (the cortland blue) sink rate about 1.75
so if you want to fish a little deeper just count down slowly like 5 secons 6sec 7sec etc untill you find the fish.
floaters cortland / sientific anglers there are dozens on the market, and not many bad ones,
sinkers well go for a wetcell no 2 its a faster sinker but can be can again be counted down or left to reach bottom, most you will need untill you become mor efficient. it`s your casting style that will be the determin facter in your quest, fishing in a boat longer belly line is frst choice, bank a line with the weight more forward
for distance. horse for corses a small chalk stream a nice double taper would be first choice, so there you
go,where you fish and casting style.god luck in your choice

Cheers for the replies guys.
I'll have a look at the makes of lines. I think i might go for a scientific angler line.

Good choice, the Aircel lines are very good as are the Supreme 2, Ultra 4 and Mastery lines although the Aircel have a fair amount of stretch in them so give them a good stretching to remove memory and coils.

Re: What Fly line should i choose?

I agree with pleccy that the aircel does need a good strech as i have found but a good fly line anyway.

Re: What Fly line should i choose?

The Airflo lines have a fairly low stretch and I use the floater or one of the slow glass lines from the sixth sense range for nymphing. Remember that whatever line you choose, always get one with a nice, smooth surface.
