| Re: hook straightend by fish It's happend to me several times when fly fishing for Rainbow Trout. I think the problem is usually caused by a blunt hook not fully penetrating a bony part of the fishe's mouth. The pressure is then put on the hook point which acts as a lever instead of on the hook bend. The moral of this story is check your hook point for sharpness or damage every cast... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: hook straightend by fish Yes it definately pays to steer clear of cheap hooks as it could cost you the fish of a lifetime. As with any tackle, always get the best you can afford. I usually tie my own flies & never skimp on hook quality... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: hook straightend by fish You should let the guys at your tackle recommend good hooks to use. This has sometimes happened to me with rainbow trout.. (5-7pounds).. and once with what I would like to think about 15 pound salmon... __________________ With flyfishing regards from Iceland Hreisi Make Money Online Fast! | Re: hook straightend by fish As Greenheart said avoid cheap hooks like the plague, I use the salmon hooks from Sportfish for my salmon flies or Tiemco hooks for trout fishing. |
