Hi Brett,

Firstly look on the rod blank nearest the handle it should tell you the # rating and the manufacturer. Also if it is Carbon fibre, Glass fibre, or split cane and its length if feet or metres.

It it is carbon fibre... you can use it.... for what for, I would ned to know the line rating which is marked like this #7 or 7#. This indicates the line weight and from there no problem. If it is Glass fibre or better still split cane mount it on yer wall they look good.

Let me know when you have found it.

Cheers
Shaun

Re: fly rod

Got a lovely old 6 foot split cane rod I was left in someone's will. Always wanted to give it a try but scared I'll break it. I was also left an old fly tying kit at the same time but my fingers are far too big and clumsy for that sort of thing!

Hi Brett,

Yeah mate you could use this for Saltwater fly fishing fishing. DT8 means Double Taper 8 (taper at both ends can be reversed) weight lines... WF9 means weight forward 9 lines so this means you can use 8 weighted lines and 9 weighted lines. Ideal! Depending on where the tip broke you can have it repaired.

Got a reel to match? Saltwater fly fishing here you come!!!!!

Especially down your neck of the woods.

Cheers
Shaun

Large Arbour holds enough line and you get less line memory ... coils would suggest Orvis Rocky Mountain... PM me and I will price it for you.

No problem with lines etc flies needed tie all my own as per photos section but not my faithful patterns.

Cheers
Shaun
