£5 to £10 for a day ticket on a river or lake is about normal and is not unacceptable, Upto £20 for a 24hr ticket on a carp water is normal.

The cheaper the poorer the fishing in my experience, but I have paid £17 for a day on a river, very nice fishery, trout and grayling specifically.

But it is all down to the pocket and the waters, you pays your money and you takes you choices.

Never fished a loch.

I cannot afford syndicate prices and think it is alot more expensive than the little day ticket stuff I have done.

hell think iv been robbed avington £60 five fish dever springs the same and most fly fisheries are 25quid up

Interesting question! I'm assuming you're relating to Fly Fishing on this part of the forum.

I've done a lot of fly fishing for trout in the past but not for many years. For me it was all about "value" rather than "price". To me that value was made up of all sorts of things, not just the actual fishing, but things like anticipation, venue, novelty or first time to a venue.

I've spent a small fortune on places like Avington for just a four fish limit but (hopefully) what amazing fish! Trips further afield (I'm based in the South) often involved further expense in travel and accomodation etc. But trips to Rutland, Grafham and the like are logged in my memory as superb value but damned expensive!

The opposite end of the scale, in terms of expense, were days out on the local rivers and streams within my club books and hopefully catching the occassional wild brown trout.

Like "Mithrandir" I'm very happy to pay around £20 for a day on a (fairly) local chalk stream for grayling. It's good to spoil yourself every now and then!
